Oh look, spoiler, a map showing our pub crawl route in Frome last Saturday.

The best is yet to come, but every pub deserves a Retired Martin post, even the George, the most stately looking place in the market place.

I just looked up room rates this weekend; minimum 3 night stay at £128 a night, which seems less than a bargain to me.

Pubwise it a lightly modernised dining room of a place, the sort of thing Robinson’s did just to annoy Old Mudgie,

but I don’t see much Wadworth’s these days and I’m not missing my 6X.

It was so nearly GOOD, but it wasn’t, quite. It lacks that body and richness that gets pubs in the GBG, which never lies.

In old money it was NBSS 2.5, but you’re banned from CAMRA if you try to score that these days, same as organising a pub crawl.

Which is a shame, given how close we are to Devizes.

Coincidentally, the Folly Road crafty keg beers shiny fonts are from Devizes, too.

Or so we find out when we enquire using AI.

Blimey, on the same out-of-town site as Wadworth, too.

At least they’re “independent” *, which of course is what matters to CAMRA.

Anyway, that getting a bit close to beer talk, and we can’t have. Let’s enjoy the George’s cutting-edge soundtrack.
