January 2024. Stockton-on-Tees
Obviously every place in the UK has its own particular merits, but it is hilariously to hear a Government minister born in Lewisham and representing Braintree (allegedly) slagging off lovely Stockton.

Not only does it have one of the best Bass pubs and micro pubs, but there’s stunning Georgian architecture and a network of colourful yards to match Tewkesbury.
And it’s still a blank canvas, with huge potential for development by the Tees and in that wide high street.

In the Thomas Sheraton, they have one of my favourite Spoons.

I’d love to tell you more but the notes ran out at this point, so let’s hope the photos tell a story.

This is the one that Mrs RM saw a chap launch himself out of into an Uber last year, missing his taxi by 3 feet. We’ve all been there.
Bargains galore,

Double American cheese burger and something strong, probably Rudgate, for £7.53.

Rudgate do beer better than Americans do burgers. Mrs RM had the can as craft.

Oh.

Back in Seaton we felt obliged to pop in and see the local strummer back in the 9 Anchors, because we’d promised to.

He was really good, but the last pint was a big mistake.
What is an American burger? I’ve never thought the base of the burger changed by country.

No, doesn’t sound that different does it.

Exactly. It’s one of the last foods I would use a country based descriptor on. Not like the hot dog say.
