April 2023.
A second new GBG entry for unsung Sarratt in short order, following the Brunning & Price I daringly took my dad to after a trip to the free day at Wisley.

Watford is, by common consensus amongst me, a dump, but the edge-of-Chilterns villages are rather gorgeous,

even if on this Spring Sunday the green was largely an overflow car park for the two pubs.
The Boot is as unpretentious a rural dining pub as I’ve seen this year.

I can only apologise for taking a photo of the Parlour window backwards.

At the bar the young staff are coping with the complex food orders cheerfully and admirably, and I’m only a little perturbed by the bar flies hiding the pumps.

Abbot, Tribute, IPA your craft choice. My only choice is whether to hover by the fire or outside.

But as you’ll know the sun adds 0.25 to your IPA, which raises the NBSS to a scarcely believable 3.5.
No, you don’t believe it either, do you ?
After ten years of blogging don’t you think you’ve earned our trust?

I’ve seen CAMRA members say on Discourse they could NEVER score GK IPA or Doom Bar more than a 3, which spectacularly misses the point.

That does lead one to question the system.

It does. I had a faultless pint of GKIPA here (where the guy in the blue chequered shirt is sitting to be precise)

I knew that was Tottenham Court Road immediately ! Glad to hear the beer was good.

The sun 🌞 definitely enhances the aroma of a beer, although whether or not it adds to its NBSS is open to debate.

“Watford is, by common consensus amongst me, a dump” which might have nothing to do with it being the home of Wetherspoons.
