February 2026. Woolwich to Plumstead.

Gig night in London, a chance to get a rare couple of GBG ticks, with an exciting Thameslink trip past London Bridge (new and shiny) and Greenwich (old) to Woolwich (scruffy but exciting).

I knew Woolwich had suffered a few pub closures,

but goodness me that’s a lot of grey “P”s there.

Not a lot to see on the mile up towards Plumstead, but “The Thinker” by Ant Carver is a gem,

Ruschita is a classic looking takeaway,

and I’ll never tire of the roadside colour.

Not sure where the Lord Herbert has been hiding all these years,

a standout in a beer desert,

but it’s what you want in a South London corner pub.

Quirky,

cosy, politically edgy, beers you’ve heard of.

I’ve got a fair old walk to my next pub in Charlton, and I’m nervous about public toilet availability, so I stick to a chewy half of Harvey’s (3.5) and wish I’d had a pint.

We all make mistakes.
Was in the now-infamous Marston’s dining pub on the outskirts of Dundee this lunchtime. Shame you weren’t there for your free half of Hobgoblin.

Will catch up with your posts later. As things stand, am in the Travelodge at Glasgow Airport on my way to Las Palmas. The bar only had Stella and was largely occupied by the Scotland U14 Screeching Squad.

Good question.
In Las Palmas now. Mrs B wanted a bit of a kip so went for a wander. In 45 seconds was in a cracking little bar where a couple of Estrellas (grande) was a reasonable 7 euro thingies. I did manage to see some of the sights as well, he hastens to add.

I have yet to see graffiti sprayed all over any proper street art. I am grateful for such respect.
