March 2024. Sheffield.
Our night in Rochdale was disturbed only by the scuttling of rats on the floor above. I confess, I hear nothing.

A functional breakfast in a functional dining room. It won’t be troubling the GBG soon.

I wanted a break from pubs. Mrs RM sent me this;

I couldn’t resist the latest innovation from our local pub, a Thursday night pint and pie deal.

OK, pie and a pint deals go back to 1856 I think, but I’m always impressed, and we even found our usual spot under the lamps at the Blind Monkey.

What always impresses me about our local is that you never see the same people twice.
Oh and the pie, a rare variation from Pieminster is a stunner,

as was the Don Valley Blonde, at least tonight.
The Blind Monkey may not be in MY top 10 pubs, but I suspect it might make YOURS.
She does her best to lead you astray, doesn’t she?

Amazing value, and top quality, as well.

Sag aloo?
Don’t go reminding me of those awful Black Lace releases.

Serving pie & mash with peas instead of liquor is as wrong as serving cask ale through a sparkler!
