TRYING TO GET A PINT AFTER THE MATCH

Posting from the car park of the Flowing Spring near Henley, so excuse the typos.

You left me at Oxford Road station where I briefly contemplated a pre-match pint at the Bulls Head before remembering the limitations of my bladder.

Sadly, the walk to the Etihad may be paved with curry but there’s no cask now the Jolly Angler has gone.

BOO, Hydes BOO.

After an exciting game of VAR Nil, VAR Nil, I had a whole hour for a postmatch pint before the 18:20 rumbled back to Sheffield.

But Manchester was full. No space in Cask, in the Crown and Kettle, in Fierce, in the Hare & Hounds.

Football makes Manchester, as much as its pubs.

The pedestrianisation of the Northern Quarter and Stevenson Square has saved the city this year

It was wonderful to see, but I wanted a seat, and a pint.

Solace came from an unlikely source…
