One last pint with Mick before he hit the Doom Bar in Sheffield’s iconic Wetherspoons, and one that wasn’t on his map.

The Millowners Rest Arms, the pub for the wonderful (and free) Kelham Island Industrial Museum, was off my radar too.
But once you’ve done the Fat Cat and the KIT it’s worth popping round the corner to admire the green ponds and street art and nipping in for your dose of Sheffield breweriana.

The Millowners is clearly “storeroom converted to museum pub”, bit like the places in Dudley and Beamish, but it’s well done and Stafford Paul will admire the seating,

if not the beer board.

Sheffield Hatter will be as pleased as Citra was to discover a cask range as exciting as this one; Farmer’s Blonde and Abbeydale Moonshine being the Sheffield equivalent of Doom Bar and Abbot (but which one is which, eh ?).

But the proof is in the tasting, and the Moonshine climbed from a commendable 3+ to a 4 as the soundtrack of the Futurehead’s “Hounds of Love” worked its magic.

“Very clean” said Mick, who’s a beer expert. Nice word, clean.
Oh, yes, nearly forgot.

Only just noticed the keg prices. Think the cask was £3.40.
