Ooh, lovely. Orange light inside a backstreet Sheffield pub.
Yes, Sheffield, scene of some frenzied househunting this last week. But was it for us? 🤔

We actually stayed in the Crow, which I’m hoping is a preemptive tick as it comes from the same stable as the Rutland.

And is effortlessly good. Add it your Kelham krawl.
It really is backstreet, tucked along derelict factories, Asian shops and yards from where James spent his final year before collecting his 1st in Computer Science. He’d get a 3rd in pub ticking, if that.

Sheffield Hatter and Citra would like this, Paul Mudge and Mrs RM would head straight for the 9% kegs.

Cosy, a place for groups from two households, a place to get effortlessly drunk on a Thursday night.

Which is Something Mrs RM could lecture in.

Would the proceeds from a house sale beside Cambridge not leave you able to buy Sheffield? Or at the very least Rotherham.

You’ve met Mrs RM. You know what expensive taste in beer she has. AND she sometimes insist I use a car park rather than walk 2 miles in. No money to waste, Scott.
(I’d quite like to buy a pub in Greasbrough and just serve John Smiths Cask, Carling and artisan gin).

Stick a micro brewery on the side and brew an exclusive selection of Imperial Stouts for Mrs. RM. Bound to be cheaper than the bottles you pick up for her round the country.

What about artisan Carling?

The crow with a N on a broken chain in its beak seems to suggest it was formerly The Crown Inn. Perhaps some of your followers will know the pub’s history.

Thanks, Paul.
I remember now someone told me that when I mentioned the pub before. (formerly Sleep Hotel; Old Crown Hotel says Whatpub).

The beers look good, such cheap northern prices as well. 😉

Went to 4 Sheffield pubs, think cask averaged £3.20 a pint, and it’s less than £3 in Barnsley.

“Add it your Kelham krawl.”
Oooh. Even I recognise that name.
“Paul Mudge and Mrs RM would head straight for the 9% kegs.”
Me as well; as long as I could walk back to where I was staying.
“a place for groups from two households”
Argh! Sorry, but that annoys the bejeezus out of me. If that were true when we went to visit our two lads in Edmonton, I would not be able to go have a beer with them! (grrrrrrr)
“Which is Something Mrs RM could lecture in.”
Heh.
And, in the photo above; is that a version of ‘Where’s Waldo’ or ‘All Around Bustletown’?
Cheers

“We actually stayed in the Crow” – I didn’t know they did accommodation.
“frenzied househunting this last week. But was it for us?” – forty minutes to Stockport, less than an hour to Manchester. Probably.
“Paul Mudge …… would head straight for the 9% kegs” no, just the Brown Bear if I’ve not got long.

The Crown only became the Crow a year ago, so possible only added recently. 4 rooms or so, very pleasant (from £50 for a triple room only so not bargain by our standards but well located).

We headed for the Brown Bear a year ago just after it reopened; just made last orders.
