Another Proper Pub for you traddies, except this one is a Community-owned one. Will they growl at incomers ? (Spoiler:only BRAPA).
Also, one for those of you believe in long walks between pubs to walk off calories.
The 15:27 from Hyde Central arrived at Rose Hill at 15:40.
Google said 1:15 walking to the pub and thence to Romiley Station for the return Mancward.
If I could knock 25% minutes off that time I could get 14 minutes in the Northumberland Arms and still make the 16:50 from Romiley.
An ambitious plan, with no time to stop to take photos of canals or other pubs or dawdle in marvellous micro Marple.

I crossed into Marple Bridge and reached the Northumberland pretty much spot on time.
As you’ll see from the OS, this is a gorgeous bit of Greater Stockport, previously packed with the shabby looking Robinsons houses that first attracted me to Unicorn and (sob) Hatters.
Rather gorgeous as dusk fell.

Multiroom, but of course the 4pm tea-time crowd are at the bar in the public, waiting for the blessing of the haggis by Duncan later.

I should have had the Unicorn, but you should never pass up Track Sonoma, and I didn’t.

Decent beer, friendly landlord, gorgeous pub with some for everyone.
I’d have stayed for a pint and a chat but with horror I suddenly noticed I’d overstayed my 14 minutes and now had to do the 41 minute trek to Romiley station in 30 minutes.
Which was fun. I can walk but I definitely can’t run.
Lang may yer lum reek.
Once we get that new trade deal in place you should have the pleasure of a lot more Bud.

Mmm. Unpasteurised, I hope.
Bud used to be a common sight on a certain sort of pub in Northamptonshire. Same with Labatts.

It’s all brewed locally anyway – shipping water across the Atlantic is an expensive business.

That would be like pedigree brewed in Wolverhampton. We’ll send stuff brewed by the banks of the Mississippi River. You’ll taste a world of difference.

There’s a massive hill between Compstall and Romiley Station! ⛰

It all seemed uphill!
And very dull in Romiley. Sure there were interesting pubs there once.
