Oh dear, another pub, another paucity of notes.ย BRAPA would be ashamed.
Anyway, I’ll make it up, as we approach the first of a trio of classic revisits.

My only note says “Less hoppy in the mouth than on the nose” which we can only hope was something Dick was saying about Sherbert Dip Dabs rather than his Bass. Leek is one of only 47 places in the UK you can buy the hopped version of Dip Dabs.
Here’s Dave and Dick contemplating the wonder of a 30th successive great English pub (OK, the one Mudgie took them in on Monday excepted).

I loved the casual pubbiness of the Earl Grey when it burst into the GBG; the mix of punters reminiscent of Cambridge’s Mill Road free houses.

A nice concise beer line-up, from which we all picked the hazy one from Pentrich.

Look how hazy it is.

I may have converted the Americans to the joys of hazy cask (NBSS 3.5) you know.
Anyway, a great way to sample crafty cask and keg on proper seating at good prices.
Just please, PLEASE, don’t stack your glasses.
On the beer list the House IPA isn’t a house beer and, despite the name, neither is the Earl Grey Bitter.

I do unstack them when I set them down!

It’s a good job that they were No-nics and not Co-nics…

Only kidding, you’re very domesticated, Dick ๐๐

I’ve obviously seen bar staff stacking glasses like that, but never customers – not even in the US.
Perhaps I’ve led a sheltered life?
ps. I don’t recall seeing Nonicks in North America, just a range of glasses based on fluid ounces.

Ahem:
As for Nonics on this side of the pond; they’re not that prevalent but they do beat out the dimpled mugs. ๐

I obviously didn’t visit the right places, Russ!
They look like Bass glasses in the photo, but difficult to tell.
Nice to see you back, btw.

It must be catching. Duncan just ran into that.
“as we approach the first of a trio of classic revisits.”
In the OS map below, is it called the Blue Mugge because he couldn’t take a Leek? ๐
“A font for the purist”
Are you sure that’s not a tea house?
“My only note says โLess hoppy in the mouth than on the noseโ which we can only hope was something Dick was saying about Sherbert Dip Dabs rather than his Bass.”
As I’m reading these backwards (time wise; not from the bottom up) I can only surmise that sommeliers inhale more heartily than the normal pint drinker?
“Note Dickโs hoodie, ”
I guess it would be too much info if I mentioned my dick has a hoodie?
“Note beer dispensed in cough medicine bottles for hipsters”
Are you sure you aren’t getting your notes mixed up with the Medicine Tap?
“Proper head”
No comment. ๐

I’m having a hazy IPA as I write this. ๐
“Just please, PLEASE, donโt stack your glasses.”
Only works with Nonics.
