Plenty of notice for the Elvis night at the Fitzwilliam, anyway. Mind, you’re never more than 50 yards from an Elvis night in Rotherham.
And increasingly, you’re never more than 237 yards from a new micropub. I almost did this one, round the corner from the Something Brew Inn…

But my next GBG tick was only ten minutes back down the hill.

Loads to admire/be horrified by on this walk.

A lively mix of pet shops,

antique shops, music emporiums, vaping stores and pubs in varying states of distress.

The Little Haven isn’t winning any CAMRA heritage awards.

but they don’t waste money that could be spent keeping a place cheery and the beer cheap, and I fell for it hard.

Again, beers that real people drink.
A chap drinking a cup of tea said “Hello” and we spent 20minutes comparing the north and south, as you do.
He’d seen the world, and probably knew more about Harlow and Rochford than I did.
Decent beer from Chantry, and no lurking brewery rep to offend.
And Elvis in the Gents. Not eating a hamburger.

Getting my ticket for the Elvis night and ooh…The Unit.

I think the Unit may be an, er, ambitious preemptive.

Yeah, wise to avoid unnecessary units.

This is the best Elvis tribute ever, I think. It seems to feature the Giant Poison Electric Head too. Whether it’s Lord Snooty’s or not I couldn’t say.

Might work in Seattle but probably not Rotherham 😕

Ah we did those two the other way round after Rotherham away the other week. Both very busy on a Saturday evening. Rawmarsh very lively in fact.
‘Cheery and cheap’ is spot on for this one.

These cheap northern bars, often run by women in my experience, are a million miles from the miserable” high tables along both walls” of the male-run Herne models in much of Kent.

“often run by women in my experience” inspired by Manchester’s Circus Tavern.

Quite a few young women in micros in and around Barnsley. Brings a more pubby atmosphere.

I know micros are out of Vogue in this year’s GBG but they will end up the new estate pubs mark my words!

I’ll be on the lookout, for gaming machines and Sky sport TV, then.
Anyone seen a meat raffle?
