And how can you resist the Fforest in a place called Llanfinhangel-nant-Melan (pronounced Melon).
Of course, on both Bing Maps and WhatPub the Fforest has moved half a mile up the road to Maesmelan, as part of Operation Fool BRAPA.
I wrote about the magic of “Water Break Its Neck Waterfall” before; you can judge the magic of a place by how few visitors it gets. Radnorshire seems to get on just fine without the gastro crowd.
At least the Fforest isn’t crumbling, but it feels unimproved.

Monty’s is the beer of Montgomeryshire, it seems, and when it’s as good as this I can’t complain.
But as you now, I’m notoriously claustrophobic, and exposure to Welsh air improves NBSS ratings by an average of 0.25. As it did here.

There’s plenty of that Monty’s beer in Newtown – though NOT in Monty’s Club – but it’s not worth moving on from the Railway Tavern for.

I like that they describe it as a “Malty Ale,” though. I’d begun to imagine the word “malty” had become illegal in our hops-obsessed age. 😉
