TIP TOP TAPPS, LLANDUDNO

Someone who reads this will remember where I was where the debate about Llan-Dud-No or Llan-Did-No was raging.

Luckily you don’t need to be able to pronounce it when you’re there, and everyone is English anyway (except when the Southworths visit).

Tapps

The Southworths managed rather better shots than I did on a dreich afternoon that was providing good late afternoon crowds for the tea shops.

Name the pub

Still time to capture an interesting font for Matthew.

Sadly, Doom Bar not Worthy’s

As with Colwyn, another classic Spoons conversion for my flat white stop.ย  Now I know that coffee is good for you (FACT) there’s no stopping me.

Identify those handpumps,Russ

In a well-pubbed town, Tapps looks a bit plain.

Well-placed for NFU Mutual

Plant pot alert

But inside it’s a riot of noise.

For 10 points, name the song.

Hardly space at the bar to see the pumps, but I’d recognise Plum Porter anywhere.

Note my blurry finger

Yes, there’s Welsh stuff, but then Stoke is virtually Welsh, isn’t it ?

More leather sofas to admire/detest, depending on your predilections.

It’ll do

I was lucky to get the sofa, really.ย  The place was packed with the sort of mixed crowd rarely seen in a micropub (see also: Newport).

A bit too micro for me, but the Titanic was, er, titanic.ย  Cool, rich, yummy NBSS 4.

Just as I left, the band broke into a deep cut from the “difficult” 3rd Kangaroo Air Force Ventilator album (Japanese import).

My timing is always out.

  1. “Name the pub” – it looks like the Nevill to me, a pub that I’ve not used.
There was a body on the beach last time I was in Llandudno.

  2. We did make it to Tapps. We much preferred Queen Vic(Pedigree, Banks’s Amber, Hobgoblin), Cottage Loaf(Landlord) and King’s Head.

      1. We shall do our best to keep you both out of “new places” and guide you towards proper old pubs, not all of them quaint, in October.
Only three months to go now.

      2. Well, yes, they shall probably want both pubs ancient and modern.
We shall just give them what information we can to help them sort out the best itinerary.

      1. Coincidently last weekend I heard Chris Bonington talking about his first visit to Snowdon, the mountain not the pub, in 1951.

      2. We had the Bass when we were there in August. The pub is dramatically different than it was in the past. Very well done refurbishment, but not my type of ambiance.

  3. “What Summer ?”

Wasn’t “I wandered lonely as a cloud” written about summer? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    “Name the pub”

I take it she’s tap dancing so… taps?

    “Identify those handpumps,Russ”

Sadly the glare from the lights makes that impossible. ๐Ÿ™‚

“For 10 points, name the song.”

Even my Shazam couldn’t figure that one out.

    “depending on your predilections.”

Oooh. That’s right up there with perspicacious.

“Just as I left, the band broke into a deep cut from the โ€œdifficultโ€ 3rd Kangaroo Air Force Ventilator album (Japanese import).”

Hah! My Shazam did get it then. It came up with “Nore sult”. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers
