Deal is the town that makes writing blog titles easy, and gave Dick and Dave such a warm glow about service in pubs last Summer (here).
A rare GBG tick away from the well-pubbed beery centre, and even rarer new entry that isn’t a micro. Hoorah for Deal, Dover & Sandwich CAMRA.
A pleasant walk west from the station to the very edge of town, where the pavement runs out abruptly at the church.
The Farrier has a pub sign that tells you a lot about what to expect inside.
Just an old community pub with Saturday drinkers toasting Harry and Meghan as they sealed the deal at Windsor (I think they were watching an action replay or summat).
There may well have been free nibbles but it becomes a decreasingly good idea to dip in when the cheese has been out for an hour. You’re better off paying for the sausage rolls off the pub grub menu.
A surprising Guide entry, till you taste the cheerfully served house beer (Ripple Steam), which is cool and tasty, even in that Fosters glass (NBSS 3).
Dick and Dave would love the interior, I’m sure, even though there’s a thousand pubs like this in Kent. Or at least, there were once. A survivor.

Dick and I walked out there late one night last summer. We did like the pub, but did not get the greatest look since it was late in our day and were tired. I do think it is the most pubby town in Deal. Ship a close second.

It’s definitely my sort of pub, with enough for the Olde English pub lover. Serving beer in a proper glass would work. Why did you visit ? Tip off ?

When we stay any length of time in one place I use whatpub to find cask places that look like they are for the “Olde English pub lover.” This one was my choice for Deal. On the walk back into town we consumed a take away fried rice. Mighty good it was too. Lord Clyde was my choice in Bradford. There we got karaoke. Pubcurmudgeon restrained himself from singing. Always fun to include a few lottery choices. Offsets the craft and micro places.

Yes, karaoke and Autovacs made the Lord Clyde nearly as good as Bradford’s New Beehive Inn.
One can often get a fair deal from a Chinese takeaway, and especially in Deal.
