Our last day in Copenhagen; a last day of £4 Starbucks (with no refills), relentless Danish efficiency and cheerfulness, and a last view of the Marriot from our Youth Hostel.

We were off on a FlixBus to Lubeck.  170 miles, 4 hours, £25, and a free ice cream at the Ferry crossing. You can’t beat free ice cream. Or beer.

First of all, though, we had to get full value from our Copenhagen Card by popping to the Aquarium near the airport, a wonderful bit of architecture and our best view of The Bridge. And of Nemo.

As with pretty much every café in Copenhagen, a decent beer collection to go with your £13 aquarium fish and chips; 3 beers from Norrebro Bryghus at £6/40cl, which actually sounds a bit of a bargain. We saved our krone for the Tivoli.

There’s a Brewpub in the gardens, I learn now, but it was time for a Tuborg in Promenaden and its so-called “English Pub” facing the Gardens. 1.2 million racks of ribs sold, says the sign.

While the boys scoffed a vast packet of bubblegum flavoured popcorn,  Mrs RM and I shared a large Classic.  “Large” turned out to be 75ml, perhaps a first.

Hardly cooking lager, that Tuborg Classic in the sun was one of the beers of the trip.

On the ferry from Rødby-Puttgarden Mrs RM found enough coins in her pockets to stretch to a beer from the fridge.  Remembering, too late, we’d forgotten to visit the Carlsberg Brewery and claim our free beer, we did the only thing possible.
