September (YES !!!) 2026. Sheffield.

Goodness knows what posts you’re going to get the next few days as I head into the internet wasteland that is Cranborne Chase, so this may be my last for a while.
I expect you were hoping for something more exciting than a Mitchells & Butler family diner over the road from Sheffield Wednesday FC.

In much the same way that Manchester City’s revival 30 years ago can be traced back to their darkest hour, Wednesday seem revitalised by their latest relegation to the 3rd tier, 30,000 tipping up again to see them put seven past Bromley.

I’d been dispatched down to Hillsborough to pick up a back support from Argos, but under strict instruction not to tip up before receiving a “Ready for you” e-mail, I nipped in the closest cask outlet to while away the time.
The Park had failed to deliver Doom Bar during my lone previous visit during COVID, and again I’m denied the amber nectar due to beer line cleaning. Don’t they do that before opening ?

Oh well, Moonshine is local, and has some positive Untappd check-ins even if I haven’t notice many visiting CAMRA members asking me to bring them here rather than Kelham.
“It’s off” I’m told.
“I thought that was Doom Bar ?“.
“Moonshine as well“.
The helpful barmaid points at the lone ale choice in the fridge, though frankly Sharps Atlantic in bottle is hardly less carbonated than Stella.

Yes, I was tempted by the “Fully Stacked” burger, and if they’d had the Abbeydale on in those immaculate glasses I probably would have stayed for a second pint.

particularly with a surprisingly alternative soundtrack.
A bit too quiet, though, as the Golden Hour approached.

Just then, right on cue, the Hi-Vis crowd burst through the door.
As there is not even a hint of a green leaf on that burger it can hardly boast “stacked.”
