I challenge you to find anyone who’s written as much or as positively about Newport over the years. See also : Stockton, Paisley, Dereham.
But I’ve still never been to the Transporter Bridge, or done the museum justice, so it won’t be the last time I subject you to pics of faded grandeur.
The city was buzzing on Saturday night, best I’ve seen it,
and an attempted pint in the overflowing Carpenters was abandoned at the door, though I did see the Bass pump clip turned round.
While you guess where I nipped in instead, here’s the undoubted star turn of the centre.
The stunning Chartist sculpture, where John Frost led the last armed rebellion in 1839 to demand the release of several Chartists being held in the Westgate Hotel.
Know your history folks.

I’ve seen both the Newport and Middlesbrough transporter bridges, from trains, this year.
And must have been near the Warrington one on my way to and from Peter’s funeral.

I worked near Warrington for 35 years, and had many a pint in town, Stockton Heath, and Birchwood, never even new it had one.
I have been on the Middlesbrough one though….

Warrington one closed in 1964. I’ve driven past, barely noticed it.
