December 2025. Herne Bay.

Mrs RM looked unimpressed at the entrance to our Herne Bay GBG debutant micro as it opens on the dot of six,

I think she’s hungry after only eating oysters and scampi all day.
But it’s big on character and welcome and Locale crisps,

and the local beer turns out to be another cask winner from Kent (Tropic, NBSS 4), though I’m sure some of you will recall the time when, by Thanet micro law, all pints in a micro were £3.

Mrs RM admires the gramophone playing “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes“,

the art seems to come from the age of Roger Dean prog rock covers,

and those lacings never lie, do they ?

Do they, Will ?
It’s probably just me, but I’ve never really taken to Kent Brewery beers, and certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to drink them.

Odd, that. Loads of folk, including me, seem to like them a lot, and they seem on their way to becoming the next Burning Sky.

Their beers are quite widely available, and they seem popular with the CAMRA crowd.
Perhaps it’s just me!!

I find most beer lovers have likes and dislikes. Except me. I’ll drink anything.

I very rarely get to drink beers from Kent Brewery, but I have enjoyed every one.

I’ve heard it said that lacings on a glass only confirm the state of the glass, rather than the condition of the beer. But I have no evidence for this, so I couldn’t possibly comment. Except to say that you have taken a tremendous photo of a very clean glass.

Thank you. I do like a clean glass.
