December 2025. Faversham.
Part 2 of Mrs RM’s “eve of birthday” bash, though a drier “bash” you’ll never see.
A dozen “must sees” marked on our Faversham map,

the most exciting of which was “warm sausage roll from Tommy Butcher the Butcher“.

At least, I think the surname was Butcher. It was a sensational sausage roll, anyway.
A town for the purist,

with an impressive number of genuinely independent shops.
Old Mudgie could have got his ’70s rock badges for his denim jacket here.

Normally I’d say “Look Up“,

but the Faversham frontages are pretty good,

unless you’re not keen on the sight of dead pheasants.

The market place is a real throwback; no artisanal nonsense. Almost as quiet as Atherstone, mind.

What is this sartorially elegant gent selling ?

We caught it at its best, for sure,

though sadly we were leaving the pubs for later that night.

Shepherd Neame or Shepherd Neame for tea ?

Who needs choice ?
I still find Faversham one of the prettiest towns we’ve visited. Great base for north Kent.

The best is yet to come. You can possibly guess what that was.

I’m… intrigued.
“the most exciting of which was “warm sausage roll from Tommy Butcher the Butcher“.”
Yes, yes but… was it dry?
“with an impressive number of genuinely independent shops.”
You’re reusing old stock from the previous post.
“Old Mudgie could have got his ’70s rock badges for his denim jacket here.”
(looks down)
I’m wondering why there are ‘more ladies’ in the ‘other rams’, or so the sign says in chalk.
“but the Faversham frontages are pretty good,”
Good for window shopping.
“unless you’re not keen on the sight of dead pheasants.”
Aha! So that’s where Dicken’s got his idea for ‘A Christmas Carol’.
“Almost as quiet as Atherstone, mind.”
Quiet as a mouse?
(no creature was stirring…)
“What is this sartorially elegant gent selling ?”
Not a bleedin’ clue.
“though sadly we were leaving the pubs for later that night.”
The horror.
“Who needs choice ?”
I do believe it’s Mrs RM’s choice. 😉
Cheers
PS – and with that (looks at clock, noting it’s roughly 4:10am there on 22nd Dec) I wish you a joyous birthday, as well as happy holidays etc. etc.
I more than likely won’t be on for another two weeks or so, as we head out through the mountains to spend time with our kids (and grand kids!) for the holidays. The torrential rains have abated; the highways have reopened, and my darling wife has returned from her 4-day visit with various extended family members in Victoria. One final day to run around for last minute items and packing and whatnot and then we’re off!
🥳🎉

Thanks Etu. It’s been a decent day exploring old Hastings here, but I’d really like to get to Wales again soon.

It’s a great town. I went in December 2017 where I had a cider in front of roaring fire in the Sun Inn with my Sidcup buddy.

Sounds great. And the Sun is where we will end the evening.
