DYLAN AND SHAKESPEARE

September 2025. Sheffield.

Back home (I think I still live in Sheffield) I set off back on the marathon trail in S*x City.

It’s all about s*x with Jarvis, isn’t it ?

The Shakespeare greets me with Dylan on a Tuesday afternoon; two master wordsmiths,

though the real art is in these Wards windows.

The Shakey has heavy competition in Kelham’s Valley of Beer, and in absolute honesty it’s an NBSS 3+ pub rather than the 4 of the KIT.

BUT it is as cosy as anywhere, particularly the front bar,

and while I’m no fan of big ranges at least all six are different;

“That’s a really good choice of beer styles” I say to the young barman, who pleasingly agrees with me rather than running cover from the beer nerd, noting that traditional Grodziskie at the bottom.

But while the cask (PED) is OK, it’s the Strawberry Smoothie IPA from Triple Point that gets that critical 4 on Untappd.

    I was wondering that myself. As all of your maps going to London start at Waterbeach.

    I know I’d be flat on my back after a marathon trail of S*x in the City.

    I can happily say that s*x is still never far from my mind.

    My own man shed/pub has one similar window, sort of.

    Well, the KIT has been a beacon (for tickers and regular folk) for over 40 years now. 😉

    Including that bloody P.E.D.!

    Sigh. One hit wonder. But then, you have to consider the (regular)* Untappd clientele.

  3. I will tell you a story about Wharfedale Best one day. I was involved in the creation of the beer (its a great beer) when I was director at Wharfedale brewery.
