July 2025. Glasgow.

I had a Simple Plan for Glasgow for my flying overnighter. Lucy Dacus gig at Barrowlands, a Curry-Heute curry cafe, bit of Culture, and six pubs to pink in the Greater Glasgow chapter of the GBG.
But throw a couple of Pub Men into the mix and chaos ensues. Already Duncan had bullied me into the Brew Dog, and it took all my strength to avoid a diversion to one of those Scottish craft bars identifiable by the large red “T” (see also : red triangle).

But you can’t come to Partick and not revisit the Three Judges, GBG perennial and possibly the only West End pub I could name apart from Tennent’s.

Note Duncan properly dressed for the cruel Glaswegian winter that starts every 1 July.

Compared to my three GBG newbies that afternoon, the Three Judges might look a bit plain and modern,

but it had the best beer,

that Broughton Stout an astonishingly rich NBSS 4,

but beyond that it was the banter at the bar and on the benches that made this my Pub of the Day.

And that may be my photo of the month.
What a picture!! Great looking pub and I reckon Duncan is a persuasive soul!

He made me watch St Mirren once.

That picture is something, which should be repeatable in all pubs, but rarely is.
I really liked the Three Judges, but the last time that I was there I drank Deuchars IPA, which was a delight, and only enhanced by the barman’s patient and detailed analysis as to what was wrong with its brewery.
Others perhaps should have listened too.

Agree.
On my first major visit to the Glasgow GBG pubs 25 years ago I thought Deuchars was superb. I guess brewing and turnover did for it. Saw Deuchars in a back street Cambridge pub last year, oddly.

Duncan is dressed like these two American clowns I saw in Lincoln. Shorts and a jacket?
