June 2025. Newcastle upon Tyne.

You left our “curated pub exploration” looking for trousers in Grainger Market, giving up, and heading up pedestrianised Northumberland Street,

with its reminders of Newcastle’s crucial role in UK history.

I’d like to have brought you the traditional picture of the Town Mouse, but there isn’t really an exterior to this wonderful cellar bar.
So here’s the beer list.

And here’s the greyhound.

In 2019 I applauded the welcome, and this is a marvellously diverse and inclusive place.
The Interloper Porter was sensationally cool and chewy (NBSS 4.5),

as the sign says “condition is everything” with cask.
Jane took alternative advice,

I did help with one of those cans.

Incidentally, those cans have a secondary use on Tyneside;

I always thought you had to attach a bit of string to the cans.
Yeah, without that piece of string attached, how could you possibly connect to the internet?

On the second attempt it logged me in without actually going through the log in process. Weird!

Why are all the beers you describe or rate ‘chewy’? I’ve never yet managed to chew a beer.
