April 2025. Royal Tunbridge Wells.

As you leave High Brooms for T’Wells you notice more characterful houses,

and some unprepossessing pubs.

I’m tempted by the What Pub description of the Black Horse,

“locals like to talk to you” and all, but inexplicably decide to head for my second Fuggles of the weekend,

the original Tunbridge branch indistinguishable from its Tonbridge sister (?).

And still, I resist the Danish cherry wine.

Verdant do cask ? Who knew ?

It helps serving pints in a proper thick glass,

but their ESB was a rich, chewy, NBSS 4. I think Stafford Paul would appreciate the quality here, you know.
He’d certainly appreciate the quality of Margaret’s Easter cake.

Having a mother-in-law who can bake is 7.3% of a successful marriage, says ChatGPT.
Have you been to drink at Steve’s pub, The Grove: arguably Tunbridge Wells’ only ‘proper’ pub

Verdant cask? And a classic style! And it didn’t look hazy!
Are trends changing?

Nothing wrong with hazy !
But yes, seeing Verdant, Wiper and True, Cloudwater etc etc on cask recently has been a sign of something.
