I knew Jane would need to visit Runaway, and equally I knew the trestle table with pizza oven formula beloved of Cloud water etc al would divide opinion.
So I find myself standing up for Runaway a bit. Welcoming, especially to families (a big issue with the CAMRA National Exec candidates), and lots of those modern beer flavours we’re being encouraged to embrace.
That’s Jane’s beer app for the place. Now, “Sourd ought Kvass” is one thing, but “crisps and snacks” is surely a trend too far.
And the 3.2% Table beer was the best sub 3.5% cask I’ve ever drank (NBSS 4).
In fact, I’ll vote for any NE candidates who’ll support raising the level for non alcoholic beer from 0.5% to 3.2%>

Last time I had a kvass was in a plastic cup sold by an old woman from a cart on a street in St Petersburg.
Won’t be going back there any time soon!
