February 2025. Stalybridge.
Right, here’s that new Stalybridge entry,

a third micro within two minutes joining Bridge Beers and Cracking Pint, which was called Crafty Pint before CAMRA banned craft following the incredibly successful “Revitalisation Review”.

These charming micros have successfully revitalised Stalybridge, in part,

and Ol’s is a friendly all-rounder of a neighbourhood bar-cum-offie in the Rochdale mode.

Perhaps the seating is the weak point for us Old Codgers,

but the beer range is well thought out,

with Durham (NBSS 3+) and Sureshot (keg innit) both cool and tasty. One real ale (is plenty, etc) available from Friday till it runs out is an interesting proposition for surveyors, mind.

“A fastidious design” says Mrs RM. I’ve no idea what that means.
The loos are some of the most interesting I’ve seen since the Grayston Unity.
I particularly like the 1973 juxtaposition of Top of the Pops on mfp with Jimmy and Carol Owens “Christianity for kids”, a favourite of my dear old Mum.

Mrs RM made me take a picture of the noughts and crosses beer mat.

We need more noughts and crosses in pubs. Perhaps there’s a Junior edition.
I don’t think I’d leave the railway station.

Those stools may be the most difficult and uncomfortable seating ever invented.

Yes Dave, we didn’t suffer anything like that in Chichester or Portsmouth.

Very sensible beer range, covering all bases. I tried Coal Drop last week, and it’s much better than Guinness, which will surprise nobody.
