December 2024. London.
The now weekly trek back from Rye to Waterbeach takes the same time by rail as car, cause my Mum the same amount of worry, and allows me to get a London tick or two.

But not today (well, last Monday, actually), as I caught the first off-peak train from Rye and by 10:54 was at St Pancras, just in time to join the end of a queue staring forlornly at the King’s Cross cancellation show.

The prospects for the next 3 departures home looked even less encouraging, and I didn’t fancy the Parcel Yards or the Spoons, so I jumped on the first train south.
It’s the one that, stopped on Blackfriars Bridge, give you one of the best views in England.

But where am I headed ?

That will be no clue at all. But this might;

The Phoenix?
