December 2024. Rye Harbour.
Mrs RM is staying close to her own parents down south while I do similar in Cambridge. The last year has seen four attempted overseas trips cancelled due to family dramas and we’ve resigned in our ambitions for now.
She’s had had the caravan on let for most of the year to recoup the scary site fees, but she does at least have a big credit in the account to pay for her Neck Oil at the karaoke, and these health conscious breakfasts in the club house.

That full English is £6, coincidentally the number of calories starts with a 6, too.
I walked off 66 walking the nature reserve before heading back to Waterbeach again, and wished I could stay at Rye Harbour a little longer,

if only for the crispy squid in the local cafe.

It’s a haunting place after the bird watchers and dog walkers leave.

And as you’ll know, has one of the UK’s top pubs on its doorstep.
But even more than that, it has working WiFi.

“It’s a haunting place after the bird watchers and dog walkers leave”.
Rather like the north Kent coast in the 1953 film ‘The Long Memory’ which features the Courage Brewery near Tower Bridge, the Lord Nelson at Chalk as a Style & Winch pub and actor John Mills.

“Adult males need about 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day”.
I don’t think I manage that most days.

I’m not sure what I take in only that it is too much.

Yes, as long as you’re Mrs RM and you dump all the stuff you don’t want on Mr RM’s plate
