FREE BEER, FREE ROOM, IN PORTO’S HIPPEST HOTEL (but there’s a catch)

March 2024. Porto. Portugal.

An hour on the train from Aveiro,

arriving at the gorgeous Sao Bento station just as the heavens opened.

Mrs RM’s hotel pick was only a couple of minutes away, but first lunch next door in Maza Pasta bar, where International Women’s Day meant seafood linguine and a glass of wine for £7.

Do men get pie and a pint of Bass on International Women’s Day ?

Zero Box hotel is one of the smartest places I’ve stayed in,

I’m surprised they didn’t only accept crypto.

The centrepiece is a room you can sleep in for free (top), as long you’re happy to be on public display all night.

If any of you have stayed there for free, let us know.

Free beer, too,

the only downside being that it’s Carlsberg.

And the only downside with Zero Box is there’s no windows in your room at the end of that corridor,

but there’s snorkels,

so that’s alright then.

  1. Oh I wonder if the writer made to Foz and Bonaparte’s.
    Or Terraplana.
Or the brewpub with the big inner-city beer garden.
