Motörhead

January 2024. Preston.

For those of you at the back not keeping up, or confused by the nightly “Half A Dozen Pubs…” this is STILL Preston. What a night, though not one I want to repeat this lifetime.

A quick check of the set times revealed it wasn’t worth tipping up at The Ferret for half an hour;

what can you do in Preston for half an hour ?

Admire the street art ?

It was cold outside, best nip in a pub I guess, this’ll do.

The Vinyl Tap wasn’t as busy as on previous visits, perhaps the night was younger than us.

There was a definite theme going on,

but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.

Oh yes…

I’d forgotten how good Iron Fist was, better than anything Bowie released after 1979, anyway.

Last time here it was all ABBA and Dylan,

now it’s Lemmy and Co, in the LP racks. By the by, if you’ve ever in Lubeck, visit Lemmy’s.

Proper seating, proper beer,

the Brew York in particular cool and rich (3.5).

But, with unnecessary beer comes unnecessary food, in this case the Berliner currywurst,

so I hope someone is keeping count of the calories, cause we weren’t…

Phew, nearly there.

  1. I saw Motorhead live at Preston Guild Hall on 14 June 1983. Supported by Canadian group Anvil.

Sorry but I have no idea which pubs I called in !

      1. I saw Hawkwind in Cambridge (Corn Exchange). Must have been the late 80s. They played the song “Motorhead”.

Nothing can be as loud as AC/DC’s cannons as the Queens Hall Leeds in 1982. My hearing has never been the same.
