SHEFFIELD ART TRAIL SPECIAL

November 2023. Sheffield.

Last Friday was long and exhausting and regrettable.

But before the regret, the street art on the way to Sheffield Station.

Yes, even our tanning salons have great art.

The Christmas markets have arrived in Sheffield, and as soon as Mrs RM gets back from Pembury Hospital we’ll explore the authentic German beers in the authentic alpine bar.

Really great art as you wind down past Hallam University where the degree ceremonies are still taking places.

And past the Rutland, which is definitely Number 1 in a series of Pubs I Ought To Visit More But Don’t.

For non-football literate readers, Patrick Roberts is a 21st century Ian Clarkson.

More art heading towards the beleaguered Leadmill,

and a quick dip into the Yorkshire Artspace, with its free exhibition including the artists palette.

Which looks a little like an Eritrean supper I once enjoyed nearby.

Anyway, to the hills..

      1. “Possibly ?”
No, you couldn’t have forgotten such a legend – unless you were rat arsed !
I’ve only had the pleasure of his company twice, briefly in Burton on 6th March 2020 and a really proper day out in Birmingham April this year.

    1. I’m obsessed with the lack of pockets in women’s trousers. It’s to force them to buy unnecessary handbags, the matriarchy in action.

If these NASA women had had pockets they wouldn’t have let their handbags pollute the skies…

      1. Yes, it’s truly astonishing. Mrs. E had to carry her keys in her bra the other day. Literally not a single pocket in any of her garments.

But I wonder about what, exactly they were talking myself…

  1. Something has got lost, somewhere along the line of this thread, but for the record I was present in March 2020, at Burton-on-Trent, and also in Birmingham, in April of this year.

I shall however, steer well clear of the lack of pockets in women’s trousers/handbag thread.

  2. Eileen has a collection of handbags, which fortunately doesn’t quite rival her collection of footwear. Having said that, she has one particular bag that she uses most of the time, meaning she isn’t bothered about the lack of pockets, in women’s trousers – not that I’ve raised this topic, of course!

I would advise steering well clear of the topic of handbags as well.

    1. I actually tried to start a sub thread on multi-tasking – or Not Concentrating On What You’re Supposed To Be Doing as we once, more properly, used to call it – but pockets is probably the more alive topic, as we see.
