EVERY, SHA-LA-LA-LA-LA

August 2023. Royal Leamington Spa.

A good day in Leamington came to an early end (peaked too soon after that keg in the Drawing Board), but not before a artisanal matching of Proper Pub and Chinese takeaway to end the night.

The New Inn is in the southern half of town, the old part in fact, past the Town Hall,

All Saints Church,

and the Lego exhibition in an unknown house.

What a gorgeous looking pub.

And what a weird collection of beers.

Cornwall, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man; perhaps a unique collection in England ?

The Okells was a solid 3, no, a 3.5, but the pub edged closer and closer to a 5.

The Police gave way to Crowded House and then to the Carpenters,

whose classic prompted the bloke next to me to sing “Every, Sha La La La La” at rather improbable volume.

It’s just an “ordinary pub”, at its most magical. A decent amount of cask, but not TOO much.

Quite blokey in a way, with lots of debate about Wolves being cheated by VAR at Old Trafford, but cosy enough to bring your Mrs.

But I bet Mrs RM was glad she’d chose to stay home as I swung my bag of crispy beef and Singapore rice from Good Foods takeaway back to the campervan at (checks notes) 18:45.
