CORTO

August 2023. Clitheroe.

Hardly a big session in Clitheroe; just the new craft bar in the GBG, the 42 pump beer hall and a lovely little bar that sadly seems set to close before it makes the Guide.

The route to Cortó takes you past some of the joys of a traditional Northern market town,

including the names,

but Cortó is very modern bar.

See ! Orange wine.

It’s incredibly cosy, and welcoming, and tiny. One spare table upstairs, where the cheery chap brought our Wishbone and Thornbridge.

The Wishbone was particularly good, and lesser mortals would have lingered to work through the card, if not succumb to the sharing bottles.

But we had to check-in back at the Abbey, and couldn’t linger, and drinking keg Porter quickly isn’t something Mrs RM appreciated.

Sorry it was a flying visit, Corto folk, you were lovely. Best wishes for whatever you do next.

  1. Wishbone, one of my favourite breweries. Celebrating their 8th birthday on 26th August with an open day at the brewery in Keighley. A must visit event with my mate Stewart Ross, the blind brewer who founded Ilkley and Wharfedale breweries.
