Cardiff tick 2, a 25 minute hike into the cosmopolitan area of Cathays, the Walkley of the West (think I’ve used that one before but hey-ho).

Close to the University but no student ghetto, with the populace clearly imagining themselves as Welsh Peaky Blinders.

Cathays is still recovering from the shock of losing the secret Weller gig to the Jacks.

There’s a decent Brains house hereabouts, but our newbie is of course a “Beer House”.

And it’s very good indeed, the chatty owner winning my praise for having just the one, reliable Grey Trees from the barrel.

A bit quiet, but then that’s the UK pub scene in 2022 and the Covid rules take their toll.

This was a gorgeously fresh pint, cool and rich (NBSS 3.5+).

Probably deserved an extra 0.5 for the fish tank and the Viz pages in the Gents, too.

But as you know, I don’t do that sort of nonsense.
The real ale twa*s never fails to make me laugh -that strippers one is great ! I shall have to fish my old Viz annuals out, although I don’t really have the patience to read them now -along with Private Eye,the print is too small

I shall look to partake in a glass of foaming Jeremiah Fosters in Devizes on this fine evening. Thanks for the rip-off, blog as helpful as ever.
