I really should lump some of these Belper pubs together but I can’t be bothered and I’d only bore myself.

And although the Old King’s Head might be pretty indistinguishable from the Nag’s Head to some, every pub deserves it’s own place in retiredmartin’s sun.

A very Pedi pub, though some of our group went for the Hobgoblin to annoy me.

It must have been busy, as the landlady opened up the back room for us, AND turned on the light !
Look how happy we were.

My notes say “Sibelius was a pisshead“, possibly the most surprising take of the day, and what relation that bears to the 5th symphony I forget, even though it was a week ago.
Still, busy on a Thursday afternoon. Rare in 2021.

As rare as Pedigree being the beer of choice, but with Bass seemingly as rare as an empty seat at the Etihad, I guess Pedi will have to do.

“Sibelius was a pisshead“
He’d have enjoyed Belper. What a cracking little town!

Sibelius was a fan of Sam Smiths pubs, as I recall.
