Ah ! But which river ? The Senne ? The Ivel ? The Dee ?
Here’s your clues;

Mudgie has it already. But here’s more;

Ooh, culture AND music.
And sport in this unexciting looking venue.

Oooh, look who’s on the telly;

Is this a clue ?
And is that Thierry Henry on the other screen ? Is that a clue ?

Well no, but the sign next to him MIGHT be.
And what’s that on the bar ? I didn’t know this was a Bass stronghold, though elsewhere in town the P & W sells prodigious amounts of Burton’s finest, but the best known pub, across the river, is a half-timbered purveyor of just one cask beer from north-west of me.
Oh, and be careful in the underpasses.
Got it! Culture, music and football. What more is needed (apart from the pubs being open, obviously)

It was easy but well done Bill.

Yes, with a tidal range of often more than ten metres, you do expect to see those muddy banks there.

Ah, this is much more like it. Won’t bother DMing you as I’m clearly not the first.

OK, I’ve found the bridge, the marmite jar, the WhatPub listing with Bass and Tribute, the internal photos on Streetview, the P&W, but I can’t find my pint of Doom Bar anywhere. Is the prize this time an Easter egg instead?

I see a crumbled down fort thingy in the photo on the right. So… Wales or Belgium?

Firth of Forth?

I still think I’m close.

Yup. ๐

You lost me at ‘Here’s your clues’. ๐

It’s got the pub name written on the bar towels! Now explain the clues, or is that too much to usk.

I see what you did there. Usk ๐

Isn’t Tadcaster north-east of you?

It depends which way you’re facing, John. Ask Mudgie if still unsure.

When I saw the transporter bridge my first thought was Middlesbrough

Could be, but not sure there’s many pubs at all by the Tees.

Late to the party with this one. The high water level in the river almost makes the view of the bridge look Central European. Did you know that the castle was used as a brewery in the 19th century?
I see your fabled sense of direction is at it again – the brewery to which you refer is actually north-east of you, not north-west ๐
