While England sleeps, Dave “US” Southworth creates Bernie memes solves the Guess the Pub. I thought I was going to have to give you more clues like the Brunel photos.
Yes, it’s the Waldegrave Arms in East Harptree, a pub I’d never heard of till yesterday, and will probably never hear of again.

Tucked in Jacob Rees-Mogg’s North East Somerset constituency, and a troubling 2.6 miles distance from the Castle of Comfort in the same village.
Despite being in the middle of nowhere, the Castle (below) had a locals feel, all young lads discussing WiFi and tractors. I liked it a lot, and seeing blokes standing at the bar makes me oddly nostalgic.

I probably ought to visit the Waldegrave now, to see if it’s less affected than it looks.
Note the writing on the beams, the “throw your coat on the stumps” challenge, the hat collection and the unpubby seating.

But Otter and Ghost Ship (or whatever it is by the time we come out of this mess) ?

They’d do for me. I’d even buy Jacob a pint.
I didn’t get if from the photo of my MP’s uncle.
The Ushers shape of the green sign besides the front door would have been a good clue.

I’m fairly certain I wouldn’t even buy him a pint at C18th prices.

Rees-Mogg and I walk over to the pub when I visit the family. We lounge around on the bench seating.

Well done Dave!
“I liked it a lot, and seeing blokes standing at the bar makes me oddly nostalgic.”
Soon you’ll be nostalgic for just seeing a pub open!
“and the unpubby seating.”
What’s wrong with the seating?
“Iβd even buy Jacob a pint.”
You can buy everyone a pint with all the money you’re saving not going to pubs. π
Cheers
