A proper collection of Beer Guide stickers for you on the front door of Baron’s Bar at the Scarisbrick, Southport’s longstanding Beer Guide regular.

I arrived here via the excellent Tin Tin Chinese takeaway, leaving my crispy beef and noodles by the front door in Scarisbrick Avenue.

Baron’s Bar is a smartish pubby place, but had roughly 127 less people than on my sole previous visit. Clearly Sunday night is Midsomer Murders night in Southport. The bloke drinking a half out of a dimple mug did it.
You may recognise those two pump clips to the right of the gent from the Ya Ya post. One of them was Pendle Witches Brew, always a good choice.

“Two pounds ten please”
I gave her £3.10.
“TWO pounds ten !” Oh.
How do they do that ? It was cheaper than in the Spoons.

An enjoyable pint, if not as crisp and cool as it can be (NBSS 3), enjoyed while reading the Southport Shouter.

When I left, Scarisbrick Avenue seemed distinctly wobbly. Luckily I remembered my Tin Tin takeaway.

I should have headed back to the Albert & Victoria, but attracted by the bright lights I kept walking…

I refuse to acknowledge anything in that bar as advertising any Pendlewitch beer on sale.

“Clearly Sunday night is Midsomer Murders night in Southport” so put Midsomer Murders on the big screens used for sports and it’d be standing room only.

2.10 eh? More pubs should offer such value! Then fewer of them would be going tits up.

They and Spoons are lossmaking Socialistas determined to wreck craft, Cookie. #PayMoreForYourPint

It is a very characterful and plush olde-worlde style bar.
