We’re on the way to Cranborne Chase for the End of the Road Festival, famous for music you’ve never heard and its lack of internet. So I’ve no idea what I’ll be posting till Monday, when hopefully I’ll return to the new Beer Guide. Don’t be surprised if I don’t respond to your insightful comments.
EOTR have a Beavertown stand this year, which may be as big a highlight as Frankie Cosmos and the Bhatti Wraps.
People with names like Simon and Duncan (presumably aliases) will shortly be updating their records to show how many pubs in the new GBG they still have to complete. For Simon, this “One Month Reverse Owl Syndrome” will see his task of completing the Guide increase by 100 pubs or so due to new entries. I reckon mine will go up by 400.
Spreadsheet time. This is how I finished the GBG16 year. I visited 582 new pubs to get my overall completion rate up by 2% to 84%. Big inroads into the South-West last year.
For ten marks, how am I ever going to get Scotland done ?

Some “work” to do in spots, but still very impressive. I know two guys who are very jealous. Enjoy the weekend, we will take whatever you are able to write.

Congratulations on some very impressive stats – perhaps you could do a house swap with Duncan in order to make inroads into Scotland!
Enjoy EOTR – looks like a great line-up this year. I saw Lucy Dacus whilst I was on holiday in San Francisco a few weeks ago and she was very good. Be interested how she gets on in a festival setting. I’ve been giving Martha, Cats Eyes and Shura some heavy rotation recently as well.

Based on my very limited statistics, I forecast that you will go down by 442 pubs.
As a punt for at least a share of my 10 pubs, I will point out that Scotland is very keen on having some rural public transport and that a number of railrovers, including the Freedom of Scotland, are available, many of which include some bus or boat travel. The islands are very well connected by the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry services. When the current Associated Members Cup experiment fails, lower league Scotish sides might be included for Cambridge to lose to, but if they are anything like Hull City they will get Chesterfield and Grimsby anyway.
I do enjoy reading through a good spreadsheet, thank you very much for publishing that.
