THE TOILET AT THE BURGESS HILL SIGNALBOX

Finally from Burgess Hill, an unexpected source of blog material, a bit of art,

and a bit of craft.

The Signalbox opens at 4pm, and I’ll skip over the question of why craft bars open when it’s dark while Wetherspoons are serving beer at 9am.

I can’t pretend it’s the most astonishing looking bar of the year, a single room with high tables and low benches,

but the GBG is about beer quality, or should be, and the Stardust Stout that impressed BRAPA last month wowed me today (NBSS 4). But is it Stardust from Maidenhead, or Only With Love from Uckfield. I feel we should be told, but I don’t care.

There’s a nice railway theme. This is Lowry’s “Tickers running to escape Burgess Hill“,

the excellent soundtrack goes from Billy Joel to Jim Croce to America,

and the toilet is, er, notable.

No, really.

But the tables are sticky, the seating uncomfortable and I make darn sure I catch that first train out of here.

St Leonards looked like a different world.
