October 2025. Sheffield.
It’s approaching five years since we escaped Cambridgeshire for The North, only to spend every week since driving back.
That first six months in Lockdown Sheffield was spent gazing longingly at the Blake and Blind Monkey, impatient for their reopening.

In 2020 the Blake was as famous as the Tap and the Tavern, in part for that walk up Blake Street and this view at the summit.

It seems to have slipped a little bit since then, with opening delayed till 6 pm and a quiet lounge bar.

And Mrs RM may never forgive them for questioning whether she really wanted a pint of the strong one last year.

Kirkstall Dissolution at 6% it is then. Blue Bee (3.5) for me.

Now, she really enjoyed this, and rightly so.

Bench seat by the window, crisps and nuts and Bakewell slice.
“Another pint?”.

“Obviously“.
“in part for that walk up Blake Street and this view at the summit.”
(looks at pic below)
Nice view indeed! But, I have to ask, what happens when two cars meet; one going up and one coming down?
“It seems to have slipped a little bit since then, with opening delayed till 6 pm and a quiet lounge bar.”
(sigh)
“And Mrs RM may never forgive them for questioning whether she really wanted a pint of the strong one last year.”
Heh.
“Bench seat by the window, crisps and nuts and Bakewell slice.”
Nice but… you can’t see out to enjoy the view.
““Another pint?”.”
(looks down)
Obs it is!
Cheers
