NETHERGATE GET A FOOTHOLD IN BURY ST EDMUNDS

If you were wondering why the blog posts have dried up here’s the answer;

checking-in Untappd off-licences near Dracula’s castle.

Back home, looks like I’ll be in East Angular for a while yet, which at least means easier visits to London and towns like Bury (t’other one), which delights us with a couple of new entries in GBG26.

Like Ely, Bury SE has been getting younger by the year, loads of new housing meaning a market (literally) for artisan burgers and deep fried Oreos.

Our first new entry is approached down an alley,

except it isn’t, that’s just the way this idiot find the back door to a busy Nethergate tap.

“Are you a member of the club ?”.

For a moment I think CAMRA, but it’s Nethergate Club, discounts on cases of beer and polo shirts.

Sheepishly, I take my Old Skool Old Growler (cool, rich, NBSS 3.5) up stairs to a warren of unfussy rooms,

where a couple of Old Boys with the killer view assume I’m lost.

“You looking for the loos ?“. “No“

“You looking for the WiFi ?”. “No“.

“I’m just being nosey“.

Suffolk folk just don’t get Cambridge folk being nosey.

    I think that ‘is’ should be ‘us’, but maybe it’s that Brit vernacular again?

    ‘finds’ dear boy; unless you’re including Wilbury as one of the idiots?

    That sheepishness could also double for the whole idiot thing?
