CRAZY TRAIN

August 2025. Birmingham.

Just back from four days of nu-folk and falafel wraps and Korean cinema at End of the Road Festival,

I bet you can’t wait for my reviews of Glasshouse Red Spider Mite and Tropical F**k Storm, coming up in, ooh, 8th November.

The defining image of EOTR 25 is not a pretty sight;

The last time I saw so much mud was a decade ago when Black Sabbath played their final show at Donington.

Talking of the Sabs…

Mrs RM wanted to tick the essential Brum sights before heading off to the Great British Beer Festival (lock up your children), and will be releasing her own blog post on the Ozzy trail, probably on 8th November.

Nice video of “Crazy Train” on repeat in a concise exhibition on Ozzy at the re-opened Museum, but this artist’s impression of Sabbath’s first guitarist playing the “Paranoid” intro is a joy.

As I’m sure I noted before (but repetition is art) there’s not yet much on display about the Brum brewing legacy,

but the section on “Spoilt by Progress” (my title) reminds us of how quickly we lose our heritage,

whether to HS2*, or lack of trade,

or beer festivals.

Joking. Sort of.

*Is “Crazy Train” my comment on HS2 ? Nope.
