May 2025, Derby.

Well the itinerary had gone to pot,

but our #PubManHeroes from Leicester, Frome, Sheffield (x 2), Stafford and Worcester (x 2) were at least walking in a straight line,

reminiscent of a scene from the Wicker Man.

But where was our leader ? Life After Football presumably checking out Bunk and Brooklyn’s Lounge for Bass. Shoulda gone in the Old Bell.

Looking at the map, I’d clearly taken a wrong turn, blame the 1664.

If I could remember anything about the ancient Olde Dolphin I’d tell you, best read this post.
Bass looks OK, proper northern head. Is Derby the north ?

I have vague memories of a debate about Flowerpots and Tigers and White Horses and a Golden Eagle. But if we did any of those, there’s no proof.

I was definitely there!!! I made that one – must have been setting the pace ahead of the machine Stafford Paul!!

But were you there, LAF ?

Yes LAF, you were definitely in the Dolphin because I clearly remember you saying it was the last pub for us all with various pubmen then intent on heading in different directions, and I remember thanking you there for such a lovely day.

I am, according to scurrilous rumours, elusive but I definitely made this one!! The Tiger and White Horse were also on the agenda…I believe!!!

No, that’s Quinno. Recently arrived in the Midlands from the deep south. I’d mention Reading and Berkshire, but I’m not sure if Southworths can pronounce either of those. 🙂

We can pronounce them incorrectly.

It’s the Bass that keeps him young.
