October 2024. Langley Mill.
You left me in Ripley, waiting at a bus stop with half a punters pie and gentlefolk bemoaning the bus service back to Nottingham.
“It’s always SUMTHIN’ !”.
They were also, oddly, discussing Ben Johnson, which is coincidental as I’d run the 100 metres from the Talbot to the Town Hall stop in 9.79 seconds as well.

So much history in that map extract;

so many former GBG entries. I don’t think the Bunny Hop, closest micro to Langley Mill station, has been in, but Sheffield Hatter recommended it and that’s enough for me to nip in for a 5 minute half before the train home.

A homely micro, that greets you with the unmistakeable sound of small town East Midlands.
Just re-opened “under old ownership” it says, and that the decor speaks of survival and revival (Press PLAY).
The friendly young barman did explain the dress, but can I remember a week later ?

What I do remember is an interesting beer range,

from which I randomly pick the first one and it tastes…great (NBSS 3.5).

Honest.
But I just know that picture at the top is going to horrify the purists.
And, clearly, the barman who turned the clip round as I was drinking it.

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, as they say in Heanor.
If those eye glasses on the bar are your, I hope you did not forget them!
The mild would have been my choice.

I always take my glasses off at the bar, Dick, possibly so I have a conversation starter !
Would you have still chosen the mild having seen it ?

At first glance I thought that was a coffee

I’ve not been here but probably should have as it’s not too far away….reminds me a bit of the Burnt Pig in Ilkeston….

A heritage recipe for mild with the slops poured back into the barrel, authentic 1970s style.
