October 2024. Cavendish. Suffolk.
I know the Southworths like Suffolk, particularly its pubs and churches, but I’ve no idea whether there’s much UK tourist trade outside of Bury and Lavenham.

Mrs RM came to a wedding here, she claims, she had posh friends before she met me and had to make do with my mates.

Nearby Clare has the castle and the industrial estate brewery tap (ugh), but Cavendish has the giant village green and a run of gorgeousness unmatched in a village of a thousand.

Not much has changed since the Coronation of 1953, I’d wager,

though I expect Colonel and Lady Mustard have spent a fortune on tradesmen maintaining the timber.

St Mary’s is an unfussy centre point in a village known for charity. Sue Ryder, Leonard Cheshire and McMillan have bases here. “The full gamut of misery” says Mrs RM.

The lecture features the spitting image of the bird in Mary Poppins,

the relief a gem of its kind.

I tap £5 on the charity donation contactless reader.
You forgot Westhall on that list.
