July 2024. East Boldon.
Mrs RM began a 15 minute walk back to the metro while I headed to the Club to complete Tyne & Wear.

I like to give her a head start, and recently she dislikes me walking ahead of her as I get in the way of her photos, so win-win.
East (or is it Mid ?) Boldon suddenly looks like one of those Heatons in northern Stockport with beamed pubs and chippies with floral terraces,

and the Club is more pub than Social.

It opens at 6, but obviously there’s already someone at the bar when I finally work out there’s no buzzer to enter, and stand admiring the library.

Someone has stolen the rare 1975 edition, sadly.
Every pub is required, by law, to display its allegiance to Sunderland AFC. Here’s Mid Boldon Club’s excellent effort.

At the bar, I realise I can’t say “Canny Canuck” so have an Anarchy instead “while they’re still here” and prompt a conversation about breweries.

I really shouldn’t start conversations about breweries. The next six folk in all just say “Number one, please” (the Citra) and I wonder if I should start using that line, even in pubs with just Doom Bar on.

I loved da club, great seating, cheery chatter, and a decent pint of Anarchy.

Even a bit of Deacon Blue, the one about Marua McKee.

So good I almost stopped for a second, a pint of Number One, which had by now shifted 10 pints in 10 minutes..

10 minutes ! I realised I’d given Mrs RM a 10 minute head start, and would have to do the 15 minute walk back to the station in (checks watch, drains pint),

11 minutes.
