MRS RM SUCCUMBS TO THE 13% IMPERIAL STOUT IN THE OLD SHOE

June 2024. Sheffield.

It wasn’t my fault. Mrs RM insisted I take her and James, who’d enjoyed us at the shiny new, to a second pub and apparently the Brown Bear wouldn’t do, so the Old Shoe it was.

New openings in Sheff have eased off a bit this year (I think), but it’s easy to forget the Old Shoe is only a year old, too new for a GBG24 entry,

Great to see it still busy, despite our cruel summer dampening even South Yorks enthusiasm for outside drinking.

That Sheffield Walking Group are a hardly lot, unless they were walking from the Sheffield Tap.

The Shoe is everything Cambridge Street Collective isn’t beer wise. In one you get Madri and Ashai, here you get a (genuinely) curated daily menu of cask, keg, cider and wine.

And weird vinyl.

Last time it was the Barbie soundtrack.

James had a Sureshot NEIPA (great), I had the Waterbeach sour (a bit weak if honest),

and Mrs RM struck gold with the Azvex, as the text message reveals.
