April 2024. Sheffield.
You left me in Sheffield’s antiques quarter, braving 50mph winds and taking refuge in Hagglers Corner. Even the banks round here have been converted into “old tat” shops, such is the power of the antiques market.

I took a look on What Pub at the nearest pubs on the 2 roads south-east from Sheffield,

and realised how many I still had to visit.
Most people at this stage would have a plan, but not me, just walk aimlessly and stop at the first interesting piece of street art past the mosque.

That art is on the back of The Bear (aka “Bear”), a small craft bar cleverly avoiding the GBG by not having cask on.

Abbeydale Road has a string of small bars like this with names like Jabbarwocky, Two Thirds and Dead Donkey, all of which are roughly 45 minutes too far for Mrs RM to walk out to, and you’ll know my view on buses.
Bear felt like a cracker, with their collection of, well, bears,

beers that would look good checking-in on Untappd,

and a cheery, helpful, publican who confidently pointed out the Amity Dunkel when I displayed my deep ignorance and indecision and allowed me to gain four (4) new badges with one pint !

I’ve no idea what the scores mean since you’re not NBSS-ing the pub, but it was obviously great, aided by the joy of drinking it with a few other hardy locals on the pavement of the busy B6081.

But that’s quite enough craft keg for one day; time to score some cask…
Jabbeerwocky is fantastic – hope you make it over. Ex-polish bar gone craft. Retained the goulash/pierogi and er, pilsner urquell, added cask moonshine and craft bits n pieces. And more white Russian options than my belly could handle.

I’ll pop in there shortly, fancy the food. Another cask gain !
