CELLAR TEMPERATURE IN ALEX

February 2024. Cambridge.

Pub number 4 (of 2) on a dreich night in Cambridge just off the normal King Street run.

The Alexandra is, along with the Geldart, a more recent of the city’s GBG perennials, one of the best Greene King pubs in the area,

though the beer range gives none of that heritage away.

“Modern kitchen style” says What Pub, and I’ve mainly regarded the Alex as a burger bar with cask,

a function it performed admirably when a trio of us visited 5 years ago.

I’m not sure the beer today was quite up to the standard of the Citra back then, but still comfortably above NBSS 3, the 3 Blind Mice at ideal cellar temperature.

And obviously still comfortable enough for locals to pop in at 6 to read a book, always a good sign.

And that was my lot. And Will’s. Unless he did pop back to the Blue Moon’s open mic night.
