EVERARDS TAP – IT’S…..OK

November 2023. Enderby. Leicester.

After that great pint of Tiger it was inevitable the GBG would next take me to the very home of Everards, whose giant Beer Hall graces the great nothingness below iconic Leicester Forest East Services. I’m not, at present, able to offer a self guided tour between the service station and Everard Meadows.

You couldn’t pay me enough to have sat around for 27.5 minutes in Everards “tap” waiting for something to happen.

Google says “Restaurant”, ALL the reviews are say things like “A visit to this establishment is a true feast for the senses“, or complain about wait for food,

or recommend a flight (ugh !) of thirds (ugh ! ugh !) of craft beers (ugh ! ugh ! ugh !).

Reminds me of that Nene Valley food hall with bar in Oundle we Mrs RM loved.

I think I was instructed to sit and order by app or something, so obviously I wandered up to the bar.

“Busy Brewing A New Beer” is a wacky name, but not as wacky as Tiger,

so I had a half of that to compare with the one in Blaby the day before and found it a bit less crisp and convincing, though it improved to a 3.

In fairness it was heaving, so well done Everard’s, a great pub co. in my experience, but it’s not a place you come to console tearful Albanians.

    1. Aye indeed, Bill.

It’s all in the pump clips. Pump clips, like coats-of-arms, should show dignity, lineage, nobility, and refined taste.

      Even if it’s phoney.

  1. I have to admitted to liking the new Everards’ Brewery: family and friends who don’t care about beer agree to go there. It even impressed some Londoners who visited earlier in the year. I also like the Tank Ale and Tank Lager they do.

It can also be part of a good walk across the meadows from the Black Horse in Aylestone: I challenge BRAPA to do and not fall in the canal!

  2. I like it, particularly in the Summer when you can sit outside without getting the arse of your Levi’s wet, but…

It’s just a hop, skip, and cycle along the Great Central Way to Aylestone, home to the lovely Black Hoss, and more recently a decent micro. It’s a day out innit, not anyone’s local.
